Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of the association of insulin therapy with moderate-intensity physical exercise on the exercise tolerance of rats with diabetes mellitus 1. The maximum effort test (TEM) was performed, followed by the protocol five weeks of exercise on a treadmill and a new TEM. It was observed that moderate-intensity exercise on a treadmill associated with insulin therapy increased exercise tolerance in diabetic animals, demonstrating similar behavior to healthy trained animals, in addition to attenuating body weight loss and increased glycemic indexes promoted by the disease.
