Educational Design Research for the development of science educational resources adapted for deaf children

Bearing in mind the need to promote science teaching from the earliest years, guaranteeing equal access to knowledge for all students, a project was developed to adapt educational science resources for deaf children. This paper presents the development cycle of these resources, which was based on three phases that respect the Educational Design Research approach: analysis, where the problem was identified and the theoretical reference framework was built; design and implementation, where the concepts and gestures were identified and validated and the adapted resources were designed and implemented; and evaluation, where the impact of the implementation of the resources was analysed, particularly on the children's learning. The conclusion is that the methodological approach adopted makes an important contribution to inclusive education, particularly in the area of science, ensuring quality learning according to the needs of each context.
