Abstract

This article aims to investigate the contribution of renewable energies to Brazil's energy supply. It seeks to address the following question: what are the renewable energy sources in Brazil and where are they located? It is an exploratory research with a quantitative approach, using data from the national generating park to map clean energy generating units in Brazil, utilizing open-source software. The results reveal that Brazil's renewable energy sources in operation include wind, hydropower, solar, and bioenergy. The prominent role of hydropower in the Brazilian energy context and the increasing penetration of wind and solar energy are emphasized. Thus, understanding the context and contributions of renewable energies in the country was made possible.
