Abstract

This cross-sectional study aimed to describe the characteristics of elderly individuals with fractures treated at a trauma referral hospital. The sample consisted of data from 1,084 medical records of elderly patients, collected through a structured questionnaire and analyzed descriptively. The age ranged from 60 to 102 years, with 57.7% being women and unmarried (45.7% women vs. 48.7% men). Among elderly individuals aged 60 to 69 years, open fractures due to traffic accidents, multiple fractures, and hospital discharge as an outcome were more prevalent (p<0.001). In those over 80 years, closed fractures from falls from standing height, single fractures, and death as an outcome predominated (p<0.001). The data may assist in developing more effective interventions for fall prevention.
