SAR study for quinoxalines active against Trypanosoma brucei
Keywords:

Sleeping sickness is caused by the T. brucei parasite and is considered a neglected tropical disease. The treatments available for these diseases are limited and insufficient, in addition to having low efficacy, high toxicity and the emergence of resistant strains. Quinoxaline derivatives have important biological properties. In this work, Structure-Activity Relationship studies were carried out with a series of these derivatives, active against T. brucei, to evaluate which physical-chemical properties contribute to the observed biological activity. Six compounds were proposed based on structural changes in the studied derivatives, and two were selected as potential candidates for anti-T. brucei agents.
