Implementación de sistema de análisis de biodegradación de polímeros en el Instituto Federal de São Paulo campus de Itapetininga

Resumen

Desde el siglo XX, los polímeros han ganado protagonismo debido a su bajo coste y versatilidad en envases y diversos productos técnicos. Sin embargo, su durabilidad provoca graves problemas ambientales, como la contaminación por microplásticos. Para reducir estos daños han surgido polímeros biodegradables que se descomponen por la acción de microorganismos, hongos y bacterias. Este proyecto tiene como objetivo instalar y validar un método para analizar la biodegradación midiendo la descomposición de biopolímeros en suelo simulado. El estudio evalúa la biodegradación de almidón termoplástico (TPS) y muestras compuestas con 5% de partículas de bambú naturales (TPS+5%PB), comparando la pérdida de masa y el análisis de imágenes. La técnica demostró ser efectiva para monitorear la biodegradación, siendo implementada en la institución y utilizada en otros estudios académicos relevantes.
