Abstract

In this work, the filtration of crude oil samples was performed to determine the sediment content and the analysis of the morphology and composition of these saline species using the scanning electron microscopy technique with secondary electron detector and X-ray spectrometry with dispersive energy (EDS). In addition, a modification of the ASTM D4807-05 standard has been proposed with an additional step of washing with water. The sediment content with the additional washing step was lower when compared to the results of ASTM D4807-05.
