Abstract

The aim of this study was to compare postural control before and after intervention with exercise in patients with osteoarthritis (OA). Seven women were evaluated by Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) and for postural control on force platforms (AMTI brand, model OR-6-2000). Patients were randomized into one of the treatment groups (home or group) lasting 6 weeks, 2 weekly sessions of strengthening and flexibility exercises. For the pre and post comparison, the treatment group was not considered. There was no significant improvement regarding the variables of postural control.
