Abstract

Abstract

Objective: To analyze the temporal trend of hospital admissions of children and adolescents undergoing cancer treatment in a health macro-region in Rio Grande do Sul. Method: The research has an analytical documentary epidemiological character, with collection of secondary data in a public domain database. The data were analyzed on absolute and relative frequency. Results: There has been an increase in the number of hospitalizations over the past 20 years in the region analyzed. The most frequent populations are under four years old and male. Leukemia is the most frequent diagnosis in hospitalizations. Conclusion: There is a specific and ascending epidemiological profile that can guide the organization of hospital health services.
