Abstract

Literature refers that outdoor photography motivates students for the understanding of math contents. However, we do not have enough knowledge about how preservice teachers pose problems in real life contexts. This paper describes a study where preservice teachers capture photos in the environment that allow mathematical task design. Results suggest that the participants chose photos privileging elements related with buildings, mobilizing contents of Geometry and Measurement. The experience had a positive impact on them, providing a “math eye” at everyday objects, searching for the underlying mathematics more consciously, however they expressed that the design of high-level cognitive tasks is hard.
