Internet addiction and its implications for social anxiety disorder

Abstract

Internet Addiction is its use in an unadaptative way; which can represent a potential threat to mental health, favoring among other disorders, the Social Anxiety which is the exacerbated fear of social situations, causing the individual in such contexts, several physiopsychological symptoms. This is an integrative review, with five carefully selected studies published between 2015 and 2020. The data showed a relationship between IA and various psychological disorders, including Social Anxiety; commonly, the articles present results from the application of questionnaires, there was a deficit of studies that specifically explore the constructs mentioned here.
