Educational toys and playful materials associated with literacy in teachers training

This paper presents a number of projects which include play activities, which have been developed in a school context in Portugal. It, also, aims to be a contribution in the training of teachers working with the education
of children and young people. This paper defends the advantages of play activity associated with literacy. It also
proposes a reflection on some educational practices, philosophical orientations of the education of children and modern pedagogies. It aims to give an overview of the good practices of play activity in the educational context. We will discuss the views of researchers in these domains and also the theoretical concepts related with examples
of interventions in an educational context.
