Abstract

It analyzes the opinion of 36 mathematics teachers in service on the Digital Educational Resource (RED) Função Resgate, designed to teach and study functions in high school. First, two questionnaires were applied to know what functions they teach, how they do it and what their opinion on the resource is. Four semi-structured interviews were then conducted with teachers randomly selected from the initial sample. Teachers rate RED as a motivator for students, but only as a resource to exemplify and/or review and not to teach through it. These opinions would be based on an epistemological conception of mathematics that considers it more a system of representation than a knowledge, and, consequently, teachers devalue the activity deployed when playing, as if it did not require mathematical knowledge, which is implicit in the player’s action to win.
